SHED: A BFA Thesis Show

"Any transition serious enough to alter your definition of self will require not just small adjustments in your way of living and thinking but a full-on metamorphosis."

~ Martha Beck

All beings, in order to grow, must go through a state of metamorphosis in order to reveal ones true self.  A caterpillar to a butterfly, a tad-pole to a frog, an egg to a chick, a girl to a woman.  There is a physical and mental need for change within ones-self, however the process is easier said than done, change does not seamlessly unfold.

"Shed" is about the females need to reveal their inner core post adolescence.  This molting of the skin through various ways allows the inner self, new skin to show.  Being a female I have gone through various stages of self revealing, not knowing who I am, where I am going or where I'll end up.  Now entering my journey of adulthood I feel as if a weight is lifted off my shoulders as I move into my new stage of life.  "Shed" visually portrays that emotion of a transition.  By allowing this metamorphosis to visually take place externally, it creates a physical and emotional conversation of ones self internally.
